Trusted by Families Across the Tampa Bay Area

While I have no doubt you can find an attorney to create a life estate for less cost, there's an intangible value in the peace of mind that it's done correctly and thoroughly. At the end of this well-run process we have a trust that I'm confident will provide a solid path to easily settle our estate when that time comes. Thanks, Scott!

I have known Scott Smylie, Esq. for over 15 years, but it wasn't until the past five years that it became clear my wife and I needed to structure a living trust. Like many families, we've worked hard to build our assets, but more importantly, our deepest desire is to ensure our children are protected should something happen to us. Thinking about death can be daunting—something we naturally want to push aside—but as Scripture reminds us, "it is appointed unto men once to die" (Hebrews 9:27). Just like taxes, death comes for us all, and wise stewardship requires preparation. After careful research, we engaged Scott and his firm, Smylie Law Firm, PLLC, because of his wisdom, attention to detail, and grounded counsel. There was never a sales pitch or pressure. Instead, Scott walked us through our options, assessed our assets, and provided clear, thoughtful recommendations. As an analytical and detail-driven person, I challenged some of the suggestions, but through patient dialogue, Scott guided me toward a well-structured living trust that protects my family now and into the future. The result was not just legal documents—it was peace of mind. I initially sought assurance, but what I found was true comfort in knowing everything is in place. Proverbs 13:22 says, "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children," and that biblical principle became the foundation of this process. Scott helped us honor that responsibility with diligence and care. Arielle, his assistant, deserves special recognition as well. She treated us like family, always greeting us warmly, guiding us through every step, answering questions quickly, and ensuring each detail was in order when it came time to sign. Her professionalism and kindness made the process seamless. To anyone considering how best to protect your loved ones, I cannot recommend Smylie Law Firm highly enough. Begin the conversation with Scott—you'll find him to be knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly invested in your family's future. For us, this trust was not just about legal protections; it was about biblical stewardship, legacy, and peace.

Scott at Smylie Law Firm was absolutely wonderful to work with! He helped our family establish a life estate plan and trust, guiding us carefully through each step and taking the time to educate us along the way. He truly listened to our wishes and created exactly what we needed. His service was exemplary, and we especially loved the legacy video — something our kids will treasure one day. We couldn't recommend Scott more!
